Therapy Group Programmes for Children and Teens
At Skillbuilders we offer a range of small group therapy programmes during term time as well as on the school holidays. The groups we offer depend on the needs of the children on our waiting lists. Each term and holiday programme is different.

Orange Ladybugs and Little Ladybugs
Fun, activity-based groups designed for girls aged 8-11 (Orange Ladybugs) and 6-8 (Little Ladybugs). Through activities the girls enjoy learning to form new friendships and develop language skills for conversation. They also develop an improved understanding of social norms and expectations, awareness of appropriate social behaviour, and self advocacy as well as a sense of agency.
Titan Beetles and Masterbuilders
These fun, activity-based groups are designed for boys aged 8-11. We use a neuro-diverse affirming approach to support and encourage the boys. Through activities the boys will develop confidence, friendship skills, conversation skills, and an awareness of self advocacy. Our Masterbuilders group uses building activities such as lego to develop teamwork skills.
Fun With Feelings
This new group programme is for children aged 5-8 years who will benefit from learning about managing big feelings, combating anxiety and navigating the emotional world. There are sessions along the way for parents as well.
Superstars and Superchamps
These groups are all about helping prepare children for the next steps of learning. Superstars is K/PP readiness for 4 yr olds and SuperChamps is for PP - Year 1. We also have a 'Toddler Superstars' for 3 year olds.
Move Write 2 Learn
For specific age levels according to children referred - ranging between Kindy and Year 3. Eg we might run groups for Kindy and Year 2 for a term, then the next term it might be a PP group and a Year 3 group. Groups will target children's fine motor, gross motor, handwriting, and language skills for writing, planning stories and independent working skills
Talk Write 2 Learn
Our Talk, Write 2 Learn groups specialise in supporting children to develop their verbal and written expression skills for.
Social Eyes
These groups aim to help children develop an improved understanding of the social world, develop skills in coping with a range of social situations and language skills for conversation.
Getting Organised
This group addresses children's organisational skills in the home and school environment. We practice skills in self regulation, problem solving, flexible and positive thinking.
Mealtime Matters
Our Mealtime Matters groups aim to help children with very selective eating. Children are supported to expand their food tolerance through the use of a range of therapeutic approaches (eg SOS, MORE, Social Thinking) as well as through the group dynamic.

Literacy Booster
This group helps children develop their phonemic awareness skills which are the building blocks required for reading and writing skills. Children who struggle to identify the alphabet letter sounds, struggle to identify real rhyming words or find it difficult to take apart and build words. Children will practice these skills to enhance their confidence with reading and writing
Bike Riding
Our group focuses on improving children's bike skills and confidence. This programme helps develop balance and strength in a way that is functional and fun.
Development Squad
Our 'Squad Training' is a movement skills programme for children aged 5-12. The programme is especially for children with motor learning difficulties of any description and helps with development of strength, balance and coordination!
Little Seals
This new group programme is for children aged 4-6 years, aimed at helping children build their self care skills including brushing their teeth, packing their bags, using a knife and fork, etc
Storytelling Superstars
This new group programme uses the Talk for Writing Programme to help children develop the key skills to orally generate stories, which in turn supports them in their narrative writing. We have increased this popular programme to offer it for three age groups this summer.
Little Language Group
This programme is aimed for children aged 4-6, supporting children’s language skills in both expression and comprehension through book share and play based activities. This group will be running again Term 1.
3R's - Regulation, Resilience and Relationships
These groups will assist children to learn sensory self regulation strategies and to develop skills in dealing with friendship issues, bullying and teasing, as well as helping with emotional self regulation in the playground.
Getting Ready for Year 1
This short programme is all about supporting the transition to 'Big School'. It's run just before school starts so that children can hit the ground running! We'll be helping children practice skills like holding a pencil, packing a bag, asking to go to the toilet, making a new friend, and lots more. We hope to help them feel positive and excited for their new school year.
