Aileen Mathyssen, Occupational Therapist

A Summary of Aileen's qualifications and experience:

Aileen completed her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in Ireland in 2008. She has specialised in Paediatrics since 2010 and moved to Australia in 2011.

She has worked across a variety of settings including community, rural work, private practice and acute services at Perth Childrens Hospital, gaining a broad range of experience.

She recently relocated to Paraburdoo in the Pilbara with her family and is providing NDIS services on behalf of Skillbuilders to families also living rurally.

 

Aileen’s special interests and passions:

Aileen enjoys working across the full range of paediatric OT services. Her specialist skills are in Early Intervention, Neurological conditions, Feeding Therapy and Sensory Regulation.

She has a thorough yet approachable and playful style of working and likes to create a supportive partnership with the parents and the child to make therapy accessible and fun!

 

Reason for loving what you do:

When we asked Aileen the reason why she loves her job she said, "I enjoy getting to observe and work with kids with a holistic and objective eye. I feel it is a privilege to work alongside families in their own unique journeys. I love seeing the happiness the kids experience as they achieve the functional goals we have set together!"
