Michelle Groenewald, Occupational Therapist

A summary of Michelle's qualifications and experience:

Michelle completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University), South Africa in 2011. Initially Michelle worked in an acute government hospital rotating through Paediatrics, Surgical, Medical and Orthopaedics wards. She then provided locum services at a special needs school followed by 4 years providing in and out-patient services at a women and children's hospital providing services to a children with a wide range of diagnoses and conditions. Since coming to Australia Michelle has worked with several top private paediatric therapy services (including ours!!) providing both individual and small group therapy in both school and clinic-based settings. 

 

Michelle's special interests and passions:

Michelle has a broad range of skills and experience and is able to provide a full range of paediatric OT services. Her specialist skills lie particularly with children in kindy through to early primary school, helping them with early learning skills, motor skill development, sensory processing, and self-regulation. Michelle has a firm but gentle, well organised approach which children respond well to.

 

Reason for loving what you do: 

When we asked Michelle why she enjoyed her role she said, " I get a lot of pleasure seeing the children experience a sense of achievement, but even moreso when parents coming in telling me of successes they have had at home and at school. It's good to know my contribution has really made a difference!"
